What Can Be Recycled?
Newspapers, Magazines, Catalogs & Mixed Papers
In addition to newspapers with glossy ad inserts, Rumpke will now accept magazines, catalogs, telephone books, paperboard boxes (cereal, snacks, etc.), junk mail (direct mail, window envelopes, flyers, etc.), soft drink and beer cartons. They should be placed together in a brown paper grocery sack. Place sack(s) and/or corrogated cardboard (flattened in 2' x 2' bundles) inside or beside your bin, or in case of rain, place the cardboard under the bin.
Not presently accepting pizza boxes. Grease and food contamination renders it unacceptable.
Plastics
Plastic milk containers; soft drink, shampoo, laundry and detergent bottles displaying the recycling logo with the number 1 or 2. Please remove all caps or lids and rinse out. Plus, Rumpke will now accept foam and rigid polystyrene food packaging containers, providing they display the number 6.
Samples of polystyrene packaging are styrofoam cups and plates, meat trays, and egg cartons. Plastic containers may be crushed to conserve space in the bin.
Not presently accepted: Wide mouth containers such as margerine bowls or whipped topping containers; plastic forks, spoons and knives; cassette and compact disc cases; children's toys, oil jugs, plastic bags and buckets.
